3D Storytelling:

The 3rd Dimension demands a specific understanding of storytelling. By architecturing your script you learn to rethink creation of a story from a room specific approach. Understanding the do’s and dont’s is vital to overcome the spectacular usage of the 3D effect “poking with a finger in your eye” and learn to tell a story a much more natural way through 3D.

Ludger Pfanz (DE)

In addition we present a recent 3D movie with producer, dop, postproduction supervisor to understand the needs, challenges and workarounds of modern 3D producing.

An intense Case Study on complex, modern filmmaking.

WEDNESDAY 21st & THURSDAY 22nd

4:4:4 Camera comparison:

If you want to coop with the 444 colour space we present the following cameras: p+s x35, Scarlet, Alexa Plus, F3 with the 444 upgrade and a new Canon Camera.

Starting from the decision which post production and final product you want to produce you can start rethinking your choice of picture acquisition. If you want to coop with the 444 colour space we present the following cameras: p+s x35, Scarlet, Alexa Plus, F3 with the 444 upgrade and a new Canon Camera. We discuss all matters: colour space, raw vs non-raw, c-log vs s-log, internal vs external recording, 8bit vs 10bit.You can put your hands on every camera and shoot a scene which will be ingested and presented on a screen at our sound stage. We are planning to use codex field recording and dolby monitor to present the results and compare the advantages and disadvantages of different set ups, mods and versions.

SLOWMOTION Camera for 3D and 2D:

Using the Ispeed 3 Camera from Olympus we dive into the complex field of handling shots with more than 25 fps. Focusing on the question of how to deal with motion blur we go through different solutions concerning: frame rates, exposure time, shutter effects, lighting and different types of light sources. You will get a comprehensive understanding of planning and realising speed ramps and various fix fps rates up to 2000 frames per second. Both solution and approaches 2D and 3D will be discussed and explained. You will have time to gain own hands-on-experience with the camera presented in a 2D and a 3D setup. Take the chance to define your own field of usage and test the camera!
